Jack's the Lad on new reFRESH Cover!

Every once in a while you get an opportunity to interview somebody who deserves to succeed. So we did not deliberate for long over making the beautiful Jack Mackenroth our cover personality for our forthcoming edition, which hits the newsstands next week. He was shot by Frank Louis,  who has already had a reFRESH cover earlier this year!

Although later than we would have liked it to be, we are sure that will not detract from your enjoyment of the issue as its packed full of culture, travel, entertainment and interior features, photography and our usual complement of hot male flesh!

Traditional Boats & Tall Ships: Statement on Publishing

London. August 18^th, 2009.

Statistics released by the Publishers Information Bureau recently recorded that advertising revenues for the last quarter are down nearly 22% on the same period last year.

As Traditional Boats & Tall Ships Magazine is a small, niche title this downturn has had a devastating effect on the advertising revenues that have been achieved so far this year. It is these monies that allow us to be able to fund and retain the quality of print, editorial and design that you have come to expect since we re-launched last year.

So in order to protect the title from the risk of closure, we have taken the decision to place the magazine on hold for the short-term future. While the title sits ‘in hibernation’ we will not be taking any new subscriptions or renewals of existing subscriptions.

This has not been an easy decision to take, but it is one that will hopefully safeguard some future for the magazine. I thank all of the subscribers in advance for their support and patience during this difficult and unfortunate time.

NEW ISSUE OF reFRESH MAGAZINE OUT NOW

NOTE FROM EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, DAVID TICKNER

For those of you who have been wondering where the latest issue of reFRESH is - wonder no longer. It is out now.

I want to apologise to readers, subscribers and clients for this delay. The last couple of months has been a particularly challenging period for me - what started as a planned revamp with a new art director turned into a total nightmare that resulted in me having to completely replan our entire publishing cycle for the remainder of this year.

Thankfully peace has been restored, and our planned revamp looks fantastic thanks to the hard work and flair of our incumbent art director, Amanda Dorrington. We have lots of new editorial strands, some great features (we chat to Vice President of PETA Dan Mathews, talk gorgeous parties with the MD of Urban Caprice and celebrate the work of architect Philip Johnson), sexy photoshoots, new writers and a sizzling hot coverboy, Evan Wadle (shot by Wander Aguiar).

New issue of reFRESH Magazine OUT NOW

The May/June Issue of reFRESH Magazine is OUT NOW and is entirely dedicated to celebrating new and emerging talent.

We have spoken to interior designers, bloggers, models, entertainers and fashion designers from all over the world. Interviews include: dancer, musician and performer Vincent Vanguard, music act Yeah Sparrow, bloggers YVY Mag and Ministry of Pleasure and interior designers Benjamin Hubert and Alain Gilles, fashion designer Dimitri Stavrou and talented twin hunks, The Caesar Twins.

Our cover boy for this issue is the handsome hunk Paul Francis who has been shot by photographer Frank Louis wearing the designers of the extremely talented Christopher Uvenio.

reFRESH 54 (Jan/Feb 2009) Preview

Our first issue of the New Year hits the newsstands next week. Due to our unfortunate power cut prior to Christmas this issue was unavoidably delayed but we hope you enjoy our usual mix of culture, arts, entertainment, homes and interiors.

This is our Green Issue, featuring a wide variety of articles on eco-property, interiors, food & drink and fashion. We have interviews with musical superstar Will Young and new author Clayton Littlewood and a bigger, better fashion & style section.

Fashion photographer Greg Alexander shot the main fashion editorial on location in Paris and a whole host of globally renowned photographers (including Wander Aguiar, Jason Jaskot, Dean Stockings) make their picks for male models to keep an eye on in 2009. Our cover guy is hot new Croatian talent Danilo Vukcevic who has been shot by photographer Zoran Trifunovic.

50 and feeling...FRESH!

Well we never knew that hitting fifty was so reFRESHing! Our 50th issue hits the newsstands next week with four collectable front covers to mark the occasion.

The covers have been shot by leading fashion photographers Gavin Harrison, Robert Mendolia, Gregory Vaughan and Wander Aguiar and feature some of the hottest male model talent from both sides of the Atlantic.

The photographic collaborations continue inside the magazine - LA-based Ben Marshall shoots Dantes Cove star Jon Fleming; Troy Phillips trains his lens on All My Children star (and former reFRESH cover guy) Aiden Turner and our very own Cate Hayter presents a black and white study of another former reFRESH cover guy Alex Beer. Alex also graces one of our four covers (bottom left on the image). Our main fashion editorials have been shot by French photographer Eric Sposito and model-turned photographer, Wander Aguiar.

Editorial highlights include: a special focus on dance with interviews with aerialist Ari Levanael and French dance and acrobatic troupe, Les Farfadais. Steven Gdula's series on the fashionable and secret history of gay men’s clothes explores the war years and another new regular J.C.Parrish starts his series on Hollywood Greats with a look at Lana Turner. Regular columnist Arthur Wooten entertains with his Dear Henry letter and we enter the world of Divas (of the 18th century variety) with a look ahead to the new exhibition 'Handel & the Divas' at the Handel House Museum in London.

Editor-in-Chief David Tickner, who launched and has helmed the magazine since the first issue, is pleased to celebrate this milestone for the magazine,  “To retain an unbroken presence on the newsstand for the last six years is a testimony to the dedication and hard work of all the people who work and support the magazine. It seemed entirely fitting that we should therefore do something special to celebrate our 50th edition and since we have always had a top quality photography in the magazine since Issue 1, producing four covers for our readers seemed particularly appropriate.”

Traditional Boats & Tall Ships Magazine sets sail again

We are pleased to announce that Traditional Boats & Tall Ships will be returning to the newsstands next week with what will be the 50th issue.

The new look magazine is produced in a coffee table style format and features content that focuses on maritime history, art, renovation & restoration, tall ships, barge & smack news, traditional boats and towns around Britain that have significant maritime history.

Editorial highlights include: an investigation into the plight of The City of Adelaide, currently languishing in Scotland and explores the various efforts afoot to try to preserve and save her. His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, who has lent his support to plans in the past to save the vessel, has written the foreword to this feature. There are features on french schooner, La Belle Poule as well as look ahead to this year's Tall Ship Races. In the traditional boats arena, Catherine de Bont continues her popular Barge & Smack News and Robert Simper writes about American Skipjacks. The cover shot was taken by French photographer, Alain Guillou.

The first edition of the re-launched Traditional Boats & Tall Ships Magazine is out at the end of this month. As part of our regeneration plan we have a current vacancy for either a full or part time advertising sales manager to work with the editorial team to build up advertising sales revenues on the magazine.

New Issue of reFRESH Magazine OUT NOW

The fully festive Nov/Dec edition of reFRESH Magazine is out now.

This issue has a whole host of new writers and photographers participating. Eli MacIntyre, from Hawaii, has penned a 4 page resident's guide to Hawaii, complete with some sexy and fun photography. A great incentive to visit Hawaii and see the real islands.

Greg Alexander, Ethan James, Pantelis, Herve and Glasstik are just a few of the photographers who participated in the 12 Day Project. A photographic interpretation of the famous christmas carol. It was a challenging project, but one which ended up looking fantastic, as you'll see in the magazine. So a big thank you to everybody who participated.

Elsewhere in the magazine we have interviews with US actors, Cheyenne Jackson (currently in Xanadu on Broadway) and Dave Moretti (from HereTV's The Lair), comic artist Tom Bouden and photographer Allan Warren.
